About the Choir

Background

In December 2013 the choir gave a performance in La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, and visited and performed with Escolania de Montserrat in Montserrat.
The choir also performed in The Bank of Norway and The Supreme Court of Norway, and released a CD called «Grieg&Gran».

In May 2013 the choir performed at Oslo Grieg Festival and during the summer church concerts in Drøbak.

In December 2012 the choir gave performances in Southwark Cathedral, London, and in the Old Royal Naval College Chapel, Greenwich.  The choir also attended a rehearsal of the Westminster Abbey Boys’ Choir.  The tour resulted in an invitation to return to London to make a recording in the future.

In May 2012 the Norwegian Boys Choir sang in the opening concert of the Oslo Grieg Festival.

In March 2011 the choir participated in the Church Culture Festival in Oppegård, and in December of that year gave concerts in Notre Dame Cathedral and La Madeleine Church in Paris.

In December 2010 the choir presented a Christmas concert in the Berlin Cathedral.

In November 2010 the choir issued its first CD, “Helg i sky”, which was recorded in collaboration with the choir Via Cantus. “Vårt Land” called the CD “ one of the Year’s most heartfelt Christmas CDs, and wrote:

In December 2008 the choir was invited to sing at the Norwegian National Opera during the awarding of the Norwegian Cultural Foundation Award to Solveig Kringlebotn.

In 2007 the choir was engaged to sing in performances of Bizet’s Carmen at the summer opera at Oscarsborg Fortress.

The Norwegian Boys Choir was established by Danuta Kozon in the autumn of 2006. Singers in the choir come from municipalities in the Follo region. The choir has participated in concerts, TV programs, international events and festivals. The choir has also provided music for the giving of the annual Christmas tree from Frogn municipality to Berlin.
